Black Mold
The black streaks you may see on your roof are Gloeocapsa Magma, which is also known as black mold. This mold feeds on the limestone that is used to manufacture your asphalt roofing shingles. Our cleaning process can safely remove this mold from your roof increasing the curb appeal of your house and protecting your roof at the same time.
Lichen
Lichen is fungus that grows on your roof and can cause serious damage as the roots grow into your asphalt shingles. These roots can cause the granules on your shingles to be removed greatly shortening the lifespan of your roof.
Our cleaning process consist of using a low pressure application of a manufacture approved cleaning solution which kills the lichen within minutes preventing further damage. While the lichen will be killed almost instantly we do NOT use high pressure to remove the visible lichen from your roof as this would cause further damage to your shingles.
You will see within minutes the lichen begin to dry up and turn white. Once this process begins the roots of the lichen, which are attached to your roof, will begin to safely detach. After two to three rainstorms the lichen will naturally fall from your roof leaving you with a cleaner and safer roof.
If after 60 days the lichen are still present on your roof we will return and re-apply our cleaning solution at no cost to you.
Moss
Moss is a type of non flowering plant which grows in shaded areas. Unlike Lichen, Moss does not have roots that grow into your shingles however Moss is still damaging to your roof as it holds moisture against your roof which can cause premature ageing of your roofing materials.
